Kite Class Relationships & Sex Education
Dear Kite class families
This term we will be covering RSE (relationships and sex education) topics in class. Subjects that fall under 'relationships' and 'health' (which includes puberty) are things that are statutory and required to be caught.
We will be splitting year 4 from years 5 & 6 for these sessions so that they can be tackled in the required detail.
For children in year 6 we will also be teaching sex education. We will be covering the following lessons:
Year 4:
-
Introducing puberty
Year 5 & 6:
-
Puberty
-
Menstruation
-
Emotional changes through puberty
Just year 6 as above and:
-
Conception
-
Pregnancy and birth
Year 6 families - you do have the option to withdraw your child from this learning if you would like. You do need to contact me as soon as possible to do this.
Mrs Bland and I will complete these sessions together and will do so as sensitively as possible. Boys and girls will complete learning together - but there will be time and opportunities for gender specific sessions.
This withdrawal won't apply to years 4 & 5 who will only complete relationships and health topics that are statutory for them to learn.
Kind regards
Jack Doohan
