Homework Expectations:

Daily reading - Reading is an essential part of what we do here in Kestrels. Reading for pleasure is a brilliant way to encourage that beautiful love of reading. 25-30 minutes a day is good and a fabulous way to relax. They can do this on their own or with someone to read to.

maths.co.uk (one test a week) & TT Rockstars

spelling and etymology task (weekly) - In Kestrels, we are looking at not only improving our spelling work but also looking at the history of our language and the origins of words. By using this knowledge, we will be able to decode and reason what new words might mean because we know where in History these words have come from.

Spelling homework focuses on deliberate practice and oracy skills. Please use the 'Look, say, cover, write, check & correct' method when practising spellings. It is important to check and correct for any errors, we expect children in years 3-6 to be self-checking independently but please support them if necessary. Class teachers will also double check when marking and any errors will be marked with a dot. Corrections can be made on the sheet or any adjacent page.
