Here at Burton Leonard, Religious Education is a lesson used to learn about Christianity and faiths of the world and to compare and contrast the similarities and differences we can find between each. We are fortunate enough to have a number of specialist teachers who lead our religious education classes. Taught using “Understanding Christianity” and the “RE Local Agreed Syllabus”, these are a forum for discussion and debate. We try and answer the questions prompted by the stories and faiths that we study through a combination of discussions, written work and performance. We focus on having engaging, in-depth discussions about faith, diversity, religion and life focussing on topics and subjects that engage our children and answer their burgeoning questions.
In preparation for Lent, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday with a whole school event – our amazing Pancake Day races!
During Lent many children will be thinking of more and more ways to reduce plastic in our lives and how to use simple daily act of generosity and kindness as a way of putting others first.
