Forest School Term: Term 1

Merlin Class will have PE lessons on Tuesdays with Mr Ian Irving and on Fridays with Mrs Heys.

They must have an apron and a bag of spare clothes on their pegs and can bring in a pencil case of their own.

Homework consists of weekly practice on NumBots, spellings and reading with an adult at least 3 times a week.

Forest School is during the first Autumn term for this class.

Homework this half term is as follows:
  • Phonics Bug book to be read at least 3x a week and recorded in the yellow reading record
  • 8 spellings related to in class phonics learning and 2 common exception words
  • 10 minutes of Numbots 5x a week

Please read to your child as much as possible to encourage reading for pleasure.

Curriculum Overview

English - : A twisted tale project on Goldilocks featuring the texts: Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Lauren Child, Me and You by Anthony Browne and Goldilocks and Just the One Bear’ by Leigh Hodgkinson

Maths - Place Value within 100 and Addition and Subtraction

Science - Animals including Humans - Focusing on life cycles and what animals, including humans, need for basic survival.

RE - Creation

History - Who was Rosa Parks and how did she change history?

PE - Rugby skills

PSHE - Me and My Relationships

Art - Drawing - Telling a story

Computing - Online safety and Coding using Purple Mash

Music - Composing sequences of sound based on the topic 'Space'

Class read - The Day I Fell into a Fairytale by Ben Miller
